The Heard Eye – Cry For Love (2026)

Final verdict: 8/10 ★★★★☆

Funklords The Heard Eye have just come back with “Cry For Love,” their first single since May 2026’s “Send Barron,” and it is… well, it is alright.

That is a dismissive statement to make, I know, and I am sorry. But hear me out – “Cry For Love” is a solid song, complete with a catchy hook in the chorus, yet it somehow falls flat for me. If there’s one thing The Heard Eye have trained us to expect, that is quality in every sector – from songwriting to arrangement to performance to production, and rarely has this band delivered anything less than satisfactory. So, what is the issue with “Cry For Love”?

It’s all in the context. Earlier this year, The Heard Eye released “Point of You” – a great song by all means. That was a song that gripped me, you know? It was a song that made me feel something real, so “Cry For Love,” while a perfectly fine song, feels like it lacks in comparison. That’s probably just me though – nay, it is definitely me.

“Cry For Love” stays true to The Heard Eye’s funk-rock style, and it checks all the boxes. I am just too hung up on “Point of You” – but your mileage may of course vary. Give it a spin and see how it fares for you!
