Alias Wayne – Castles in the Sky (2026)1

Final verdict: 5/10 ★★⋆˙⟡☆☆

Alias Wayne is a fun entity in the music landscape, and I cannot quite justify this stance of mine. You see, his previous single “Manifest Destiny” was just okay, and his new “Castles in the Sky” is… nothing but a bunch of the same thing. So it is a pile bargain bin folk-rock, maybe some uncle’s-record-collection country, and that is about all there is to it.

Objectively, I would say “Manifest Destiny” is the better release – it is more polished, more put together, more “pop,” in a way. But subjectively? That is a whole ‘nother story – I personally prefer “Castles In the Sky,” in spite of its low production quality and inconsequential songwriting. It is boring, but every now and then something nice peeks through, like the female background vocalist who occasionally makes her presence known. It is a very soft song, too soft perhaps, and it feels kind of redundant when all is said and done – and yet I have no hard feelings towards it. It is a bit bad, but it is also a bit charming. You feelin’ me?

Worse than “Manifest Destiny” and better than “Manifest Destiny” at the same time, “Castles in the Sky” is a compromise I am almost willing to make. 5/10.
