Dusty Edinger – Jack Of All Trades (2026)1

Final verdict: 8/10 ★★★★☆

I am going to be real with you – whenever I get Dusty Edinger in my review queue I blush a little, maybe giggle and kick my feet in the air like a teenage girl in the presence of Justin Bieber circa 2010. Mr. Edinger just hits the spot for me, reviving that old-school type of dad rock from the dead with astonishing accuracy – rockabilly finishings meet a clear singer-songwriter style in his work, and it is great to see that this sort of music has not been entirely phased out with the turn of the millennium.

“Jack Of All Trades” is… well, it is grief-riddled and cynical, but it is also an upbeat tune that sounds like something out of your uncle’s record collection (my uncle has pretty rockin’ taste). It is no “Welcome to Our Demise” (which is an earworm that is hard to beat), but it follows suit as one should. The song’s harmonic progression goes some unexpected places and the arrangement is exactly the way Dusty tends to like it – bare-bones electric guitar and a growling Farfisa lead the way in possibly the most stereotypically indie rock moment of all time. The song is a “certified hood classic” for sure, but it is also the dustiest we’ve seen the sharp Dusty to date. Still an 8/10 though. Just sayin’.
