Kenny Foster – Poor Little Trillionaire (2026)

Final verdict: 7/10 ★★★⋆˙⟡☆

Is this in 5/4? What is this, Take Five?

No, seriously – Kenny Foster’s new single “Poor Little Trillionaire” gives me the heebie-jeebies. I mean, I like it, I really do, but between the odd time signature and the off-kilter instrumentation, this might as well be math rock. Kenny’s voice comes across as quite shy, as do the record’s frail lo-fi antics, but I do like money, and I do like cigarettes, so this song hits close to home in a way. Sometimes it is in the avant-garde that we identify ourselves, and that is precisely how “Poor Little Trillionaire” makes me feel.

As much as I am perplexed by this ultra-niche indie rock oddity, I cannot help but feel that this song will go on to haunt me for a while – it might not seem like it, but after some 4 listens, this does hold the potential of getting stuck in your head. I dig it, and after all, this might just be my sign to get back into math rock (middle school was a rough time for me, you see). 7/10, or 11/16, if you want to make it into an odd time signature, for long live syncopation!
