Trump slander? Me likey. I was going to suggest leaving little Barron out of this, but then again, does it really matter? You can make fun of all the Trumps, for all I care.
The Heard Eye’s new single “Send Barron” sees the band definitively return to the alternative rock of it all, and it also sees them introduce synthpop into their eclectic sound. The highlights here are, of course, the humorous (read: “cynical”) lyricism and that ripping synth solo halfway through the song. Yet I really like the classic rock stylings too – this is modern-day dad rock at its very finest. The Heard Eye have done it again, and they are one of the few bands that revive my hope in rock music as it stands in the 2020s.
“Songwriting is relevant again, and so is musicianship,” I say in my croaking old lady voice. Though this song barely scratches the magnificence of the band’s recent string of singles, we remain “so back.” You have done it again, boys, and for that, I salute you.
